Hybrid Composer/Performer Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) Debuts New Solo Album etudes4violin&electronix

"...about as omnivorous as a contemporary musician gets."
-New York Times

Known for fusing his classical music roots with a myriad of soundscapes, Harlem-based composer/performer Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) premieres new multi-genre works off of his debut commercial release etudes4violin&electronix. DBR presents his own intricate series of solo works and pulsing duets seamlessly blending hip-hop, rock, funk and classical music. From Thirsty Ear Recordings, etudes4violin&electronix is the classically-driven kaleidoscopic album for discerning new music lovers with a penchant for progressive electronic music. It showcases a unified dialogue between DBR and ambassadors from today's contemporary musical landscape including Philip Glass, Ryuichi Sakamoto, DJ Spooky that Subliminal Kid and DJ Scientific.

DBR joins a roster of today's most innovative artists in the Blue Series, a critically acclaimed collection of recordings by Thirsty Ear. From free jazz masters, to some of the most innovative producers working in the world of modern hip-hop and electronic music, the Blue Series has come to encompass some of the most exciting developments in creative music since the turn of the new millennium. Previous releases include jazz legends William Parker, Tim Berne, David S. Ware and Matthew Shipp, and recordings featuring DJ Spooky, Dave Lombardo, Chuck D, U.K. electronica titans Spring Heel Jack, and hip-hop innovators El-P and Antipop Consortium.
