String Moods for ESPN Soundtrack For A Shared Dream Makandal

DBR has been asked by ESPN to create a series of musical segments entitled String Moods for their programs.  Chosen for his unique take on string sounds and arrangements infused with beats and electronics, DBR embarks upon his first TV collaboration. Stay tuned for more information.

The Egg in Albany, NY, has commissioned three composers to commemorate the Hudson River Valley Quadricentennial: Mark O'Connor, Don Byron and DBR.  DBR has collaborated with filmmaker Bill Morrison to create a new work entitled Soundtrack for a Shared Dream, premiering Apr 12.

Makandal is a new contemporary opera conceived by multidisciplinary artist Carl Hancock Rux (libretto), in collaboration with DBR (score) and Haitian-American visual artist Edouard Duval Carrie (decor). A work-in-progress showing will take place at NY's Harlem Stage on May 2.

DBR is a featured guest soloist on Reine de Couer, the latest release from the Queen of Haitian song, Emeline Michel.  Melodic and grooving, the album features Emeline's full band and DBR's unique violin stylings.  Don't miss the two open for The Wailers at Houston International Festival on Apr 20.

DBR's essay What One Must Do is among other writings by today's musical luminaries such as Chuck D. and Steve Reich, handpicked by DJ Spooky for his new book from MIT Press, Sound Unbound.  Accompanying CD features tracks by DBR and DJ Spooky from the Thirsty Ear release etudes4violin&electronix.
